To Whom It May Concern, I am interested in applying for an elementary-level teaching position in your school district for the 2021-2022 school year. I graduated from Michigan State University in the Spring of 2018 with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. I am certified to teach all subjects K-5 and have a specialization in language arts K-8. In 2019, I completed my year-long internship in a first grade classroom at Oakley Park Elementary in the Walled Lake Consolidated School District. From 2019-2021, I was employed by the Utica Community School District as a first grade teacher. Currently, I am teaching as a first grade teacher back at Oakley Park Elementary where I student taught. I received my Master of Arts in Education graduate degree from Michigan State University in December 2021. I believe my dedication to my students and passion for teaching make me an ideal candidate for a teaching position in your school district.
As an educator, I am committed to providing a safe, friendly, nurturing learning environment, and instilling a lifelong love for learning for all students. My goal is for all students that walk through my classroom door, to not only receive the highest quality education, but to walk out of it a better person who is kind and accepting of others. I promote a hardworking classroom environment, and I also promote a classroom with a sense of community, showing kindness, acceptance, and respect for all. With a strong sense of community in the classroom, I feel that all students have the opportunity to thrive in all subjects, by taking educational and social risks.
My instruction is centered around each individual student and their personal learning needs. I will use multiple teaching strategies to create a learning environment that is conducive to all types of learning. I encourage a growth mindset where every student is challenged to reach their highest potential. My classroom embraces a "Culture of Thinking" through the use of Visual Thinking Routines with an emphasis on questioning, understanding, and sense-making. I believe that diverse expectations ultimately give students the greatest opportunity to think, learn, thrive, and grow.
Overall, I am honored to have the opportunity to connect with your school district and its unique community. I believe that my range of teaching experience would be an asset to your district, and ultimately benefit the students and community. If you have any further questions or I can provide you with any further information, please contact me. I look forward to hearing more about this teaching opportunity.
